Illustrator Marika Herzog

January 18, 2010 : 4:36 pm by Courtney

I received a twitter message last week from German illustrator Marika Herzog (aka demoniacalchild) letting me know she had some new work up on her deviantART page. She’s been using Copic Markers a while and has a lot of skill and control.  She is currently working on the second part of her Grimoire manga series. Check out her other pictures. She has some cool shots of her workspace (and cat!) so you can see manga-in-process. You can also follow her on twitter. Cool Stuff.

Thanks Marika!

Jim Stoten and Mike Perry For Dwell Magazine from Michael Perry on Vimeo.

A cool video of illustrators Mike Perry and Jim Stoten collaborating on an image for Dwell. Those aren’t my favorite marker in the world but then I’m not one to let the creative process get hindered by materials;-) You gotta get it done with what you have. Enjoy.

Wendy MacNaughton

October 22, 2009 : 10:27 am by Courtney

Amazing sketchbook paintings by Wendy MacNaughton. According to her blog she does these “five days a week, twice a day, twenty minutes each way” on her commutes.  Looks like mostly pen, ink and watercolor. Really well done.

If you haven’t been to our copiccommunity.com gallery yet then check it out. Recently Illustrator Angie Hoffmeister submitted some work. I followed the linkage and spent a good 20 minutes scrolling through her tumblr and digging her moleskin drawings. She has got some serious skills. Her color palette is very well defined and I love that so many of her figures seem to have freckles. From what I gather the above images uses Copic’s and watercolors. Very nicely done. I looked through my files as I remembered she had submitted this little gem below sometime last year for our old gallery. I remember looking at it for a long time. A lot of nice detail.

Illustrator Nate Williams just launched Letter Playground.  A public site where anyone can upload their interpretation of letters and numbers. Looks like a great place for inspiration as well as for showing off your stuff.
