Find out more from the director from his vimeo page.
If you are into storyboard illustration or just like rough sketches, then dig this. The opening sequence to the recent film “The Brothers Bloom”. Here the director Rian Johnson. All the voice overs are his and the storyboards are by Daniel Auber. According to Johnson, it was “very slapdash, but it ended up being an invaluable tool in showing both business and creative folks we were courting how the whole thing would come together.”
If you missed Anime Expo this past July, here is the animated promo we had playing in our booth. Illustrations from our new ink pen point-of-sale display (by yours truly) and motion graphics by Pushplay Productions. Pushplay has been helping us this past year putting together our new DVD series. They do great work.
This is the latest music video from French pop band Air. The animation was done by French animation studio Mathematic. This was most certainly done with cgi but the hand drawn effect is really nice. The rainbow shapes and surreal landscapes reminds me a bit of The Yellow Submarine animation. Mathematic does some amazing commercial work in Europe. They did the post work for the Quantum of Solace (James Bond) video “Another Way to Die”.
This was sent to me via our Myspace page by one of the artists behind the film. It comes from the Baden-Wurremburg, Germany based design studio Fly with the Spaceship. Great combined use of technology and traditional media. Their website has some cool typefaces for free download and at least one of them makes some really cool electronica music. Busy guys.
UPDATE:
Artist Enormal sent me a brief note describing the video:
“There is nothing special to say about DOUBLE SESSION except that it was pure improvisation, and we were freestylin for maybe 2 hours. and then [sped up the film]….
I’m drawing in front while Chrispy Christal is in the back, kicking some styles and shapes in illustrator, thats it ”
The Imagi Studios booth was just down the way from us this year and they were showing the newGatchaman trailer. This is a fan video but you get a sense of what is going on. The script was written by Paul Dini of Batman the Animated Series fame.
